How do I choose the right pump size for my building?

Pump selection comes down to a duty point — one flow figure and one head figure.

1. Flow (m³/h)

Estimate peak simultaneous demand, not total demand. In a home, that means the number of taps, showers and appliances realistically running at the same time — not every outlet at once.

2. Total head (m)

Add together the vertical lift from the water source to the highest outlet, the friction losses in the pipework, and the residual pressure you want at that outlet. Friction losses are often underestimated: long runs, small bores and many bends all add up.

3. Then check the constraints

Confirm supply voltage and frequency, available suction head, liquid temperature and quality, and the space you have to install in.

Oversizing is a common and costly mistake — an oversized pump runs off its efficiency curve, short-cycles, and wears faster. If you are unsure, send us your figures and our team will confirm a selection.
