Gate valves are built for one job and they do it well: full isolation with minimal pressure drop. When fully open, the gate withdraws completely from the flow path, leaving an unobstructed bore — which is why they remain the default isolation valve on water mains and pump station headers.
Open or shut — not in between
Gate valves are designed for on/off service. Running one partially open causes disc vibration and accelerated seat wear. If you need to regulate flow, specify a butterfly or globe valve instead.
Applications
Potable water distribution, pump suction and discharge isolation, irrigation networks, fire mains, and industrial process pipelines.
Selecting a gate valve
Confirm nominal size, pressure rating, end connections (flanged or threaded), stem type, and seat material suited to your medium. Contact our team for support in matching a valve to your line conditions.
